St. Odilia of Alsace was rejected by her father, a French duke, for being born blind. She was sent to live in a convent, where after her baptism, she regained her sight. Odilia’s father repented for his harsh treatment of her and gave his daughter a castle to convert into a convent. St. Odilia spent the rest of her life taking care of the sick and poor. She is the patroness of people suffering from blindness or eye disease and her feast day is December 13.
