St. Rita was a wife, mother, widow, and member of a religious community. After the death of her husband, Rita joined the Augustinians where she became known for her austerity and prayerfulness; she even received the wounds from Christ’s crown of thorns on her own forehead. She is known as the patron saint of impossible and her feast day is May 22.
