Born in the 13th century, Peregrine was active in an anti-papal rebellion. Once, he even struck a priest who was defending the Church. When the priest forgave him, Peregrine experienced a conversion and began a life of charity. He later developed cancer. Peregrine was miraculously healed, and today is the beloved patron of those affected by cancer. His feast day is May 1.
