Saint Gianna Beretta Molla was an Italian Catholic pediatrician. At the age of 39, while pregnant with her fourth child, a tumor was discovered on her uterus. Given the option to have an abortion to give herself the best chance at recovery, Gianna chose a less-invasive treatment that preserved the life of her unborn daughter. Shortly after giving birth, Gianna's condition deteriorated and she died of sepsis. Her decision to put her life second to that of her unborn child shows that she truly lived the principals she embraced as both a faithful Catholic and a pediatrician. Saint Gianna, pray for us!
