The Blessed Mother appeared to a humble Italian woman named Pierina Gilliin in the small town of Montichiari, Italy several times between 1947-1975 under the title of Rosa Mystica, or the Mystical Rose.
During her first visit, Mary appeared with three swords piercing her heart representing the sins of the clergy and religious who were unfaithful to their vocations. The next time she appeared, three roses replaced the swords Our Lady. She told Pierina that the white rose represents the spirit of prayer, the red one represents the spirit of sacrifice, and the yellow rose represents the spirit of penance and conversion.
This 11.5" Rosa Mystica Alabaster statue, imported from Italy, depicts Our Lady adorned in white with the three roses at her breast. A well-crafted base contains an engraved label while touches of gold bring additional adornment. Made of alabaster, a soft stone that is easily carved. This statue reminds the faithful of our constant call to conversion, prayer, and penance, as well as a reminder to pray in a special way for our priests and religious.
