When the Blessed Mother appeared to Saint Catherine Laboure in 1830, she gave Catherine the design for a medal that brought with it a multitude of graces for those who wear it devoutly. This medal became known as the Miraculous Medal and is still one of the most popular Catholic devotions.
This Miraculous Medal features the original design given by Our Lady to St. Catherine, but with an added light blue enamel background on the front and a silver enamel and floral designs around the edges. The inscription on it reads, "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee."
