The Scapular of St. Joseph comes from the Minor Capuchin Order of St. Claude in France and was approved by the Diocese of Verona in 1880. This scapular was initally white and is now purple. It was later approved for the diocese of Verona by the Congregation of Rites in 1880. In 1998, Pope Leo XIII granted the Capuchins the right of blessing and investing this scapular. Various indulgences have been granted for all the faithful who wear it by a Rescript of the Congregation of indulgences, 8 June 1893.
