Description

Hoping for a speedy answer to a prayer intention close to your heart? Ask for the intercession of St. Expedite using the Prayer to St. Expedite Laminated Prayer Card.

St. Expedite was a Roman centurion who was martyred for converting to Christianity. According to tradition, the Devil taking the form of a crow appeared to Expedite the day he decided to become a Christian, and told him to defer his conversion until the next day. Expeditus stamped on the bird and killed it, declaring, "I'll be a Christian today!" For this reason, he is known as the patron saint against procrastination, as well as emergencies and quick solutions.

St. Expedite is depicted on the front of this laminated, full color prayer card as a Roman centurion, holding a palm leaf, a symbol of martyrdom, in his left hand, and raising a cross with the word hodie (today) on it in his right hand. His left foot is stepping on a crow, which is speaking the word "cras" (tomorrow).

The back of the card has a prayer asking for St. Expedite’s intercession for a specific intention.

Available as singles or in packs of 25.

Back of card:

May the intercession of the glorious Martyr, St. Expedite, recommend us, O my God, to Thy goodness, in order that his protection may obtain for us what our own merits are powerless to do. Amen

We supplicate Thee, Lord, to inspire by Thy grace all our thoughts and actions, that thou being, their principle, we may, by the intercession of St. Expedite, be conducted with courage, fidelity and promptitude, at the time prosper and favorable, and come to a good and happy end, through our Lord, Jesus Christ, Amen.

St. Expedite, honored by the gratitude of those who have invoked thee at the last hour and for pressing cases, we pray thee to obtain from the all-powerful goodness of God, by the intercession of Mary Immaculate, (today or such a day) the grace we solicit with all submission to the Divine Will. Amen.
